There are so many Android variations available, and mobile phone providers may also stock different manufacturers and models under different branding. Listed below are the current minimum specifications.
Android version no more than 2 versions behind latest. I.e. If Android 15 is the latest, then devices must be Android 13 or later.
CPU – Snapdragon 7+ or Pixel Tensor G3+
RAM – 8GB or higher
Storage 128GB or higher
Screen size – 6” or greater
Camera – 5MP or greater
Device should be using the latest operating system and security updates available from the supplier.
The Android operating system version should ensure security and functional requirements are met. For CPUs, the historic metrics of clock cycles (Ghz) and core count are no longer accurate measures of performance. As such, specific and reliable, mid to high end processors are listed.
Rowanwood certified devices
While for both Android phones and tablets some models and specifications may appear to meet the aspects of the minimum specification this is not a guarantee that they will be not be optimal for mobile surveying and officially supported by Rowanwood. The minimum specification is simply a guideline to assist in customer mobile procurement.
Customers can request that devices are certified by Rowanwood. This will require the customer to provide Rowanwood with the device for testing and incur a ‘one off’ testing fee. If approved, the device will be permanently retained by Rowanwood for continuation of support.
This request does not guarantee that the device will be certified as there may be technical / compatibility reasons why it is rejected, and this will be solely at the discretion of Rowanwood.
Rowanwood also reserves the right to limit the number of supported devices.
